On Saturday 31st May, our little Cornish Brewery was buzzing as BBQ fanatics, locals and beer lovers came together for another year of smoke, flames and friendly competition. From 12pm, the grills were fired up and the battle for King of the Q officially began.
ProQ put the teams through their paces with five rounds of delicious BBQ goodness, starting with beef before moving onto poultry, burgers and a chef's choice of seafood that showed just how creative barbecue can be. To finish, we all got involved with a public chilli competition that was packed with flavour and disappeared almost as quickly as it was served.
Just when everyone thought the heat was over, the Cornish Smoke Squad stepped in to host their chilli wing eating competition. It was a fiery, saucy mess and definitely had a few people heading straight for another pint.
This year's lineup was packed with talent, with Leaker Bru Barbecue, CharWars, Crossed Bones BBQ, Bullring BBQ, Rise N Rub, BBQSlaya, Bullet Brothers BBQ and PdogsJuicyHogs all bringing their A-game to the brewery.
After an incredible day of cooking, tasting and judging, Leaker Bru Barbecue took home the King of the Q title, with CharWars finishing as worthy runners-up. Massive congratulations to both teams, and a huge thank you to every competitor for making the day such a success.
Of course, there was plenty of our craft beer flowing throughout the day too. Whether you came for the barbecue, the competition or just a cold pint in the sunshine, it was brilliant to see so many people enjoying what Harbour Brewing is all about. Great beer, great food and good company.
